Olson Fabrication, Inc., a leading Fabrication and Machining company in Northeastern Wisconsin, is searching for a Painter.

 

Job Description:

The Painter position is required to prepare and paint parts for a variety of customers throughout several industries, conforming to customer specifications and coating requirements for each.

The Painter will work with internal teammates across all departments to maintain customer satisfaction of assigned work orders. The main duties of the Painter can be summarized as follows:

 

Expectations and Responsibilities

  • Prepare coatings in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications and ensure coatings are applied and consumed within the manufacturer’s prescribed time limits for optimal quality.
  • Prep parts and apply coatings in cohesion to customer coating requirements, providing consistent and high-quality painted parts to our customers.
  • Mask and cover surfaces not to be painted per customer print specifications.
  • Comply with preparation and paint guidelines, being conscious of dirt, debris, oils, or other contaminants being present which could impact the integrity of the coating or visual appearance of the painted part.
  • Assure adequate dry/cure time of coated part(s) to prevent damage from handling or other airborne contaminants.
  • Achieve the requirements for uniform coating thickness without visual defects such as runs, sags, and thin or heavy spots.
  • Adjust paint and process parameters to account for atmospheric conditions or coating irregularities to achieve a desired quality finish.
  • Perform necessary cleaning and PM on paint equipment to maintain effectiveness and compliance and reduce equipment downtime.
  • Read and interpret drawings and blueprints to determine the sequence of the fabrication processes.
  • Inspect parts to specifications, utilizing wet mil thickness or dry film gages.
  • Prepare recommendations to modify processes to improve productivity and quality.
  • Identify potential cost savings, keep scrap to a minimum, and be efficient in the use of all supplies.
  • Ability to maintain and troubleshoot equipment; control and adjust paint or equipment settings.
  • Work within a defined process to meet quality and time standards.
  • Comply with all procedures, quality standards, and safety regulations.


Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete required paperwork pertaining to the coating department and labor reporting.
  • Responsible for area housekeeping.
  • Work safely and efficiently operate Forklifts and Overhead Cranes to load and unload parts from work areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Knowledge Skills and Attributes

  • Requires good oral and written communication skills in order to interact with employees.
  • Motivated and highly organized team player with a positive attitude.
  • At least two years of manufacturing or industrial paint experience is strongly preferred.
  • Commitment to quality and safety excellence is a must.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must pass a physical exam as required for use of a respirator.
  • Must be capable of entering confined space areas as required.

Education:

A High School diploma is preferred but not required with a proper experience base.
