POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the performance and administration of the company’s manufacturing operations. This includes the management and direction of production personnel, jobs, and processes including maintenance, production control, and safety.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Formulates and implements manufacturing policies and programs which guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.
  • Directs activities so that products are manufactured on schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives.
  • Ensures standards for product quality, equipment, and employee performance are maintained and that cost-effective technology is used to maximize production. Manages fixed assets utilization and initiates recommendations on purchases of tooling, equipment, and improvements to plant facilities.
  • Monitors, analyzes, and reports on job performance and operating costs. Alerts management to potential cost/labor overruns and recommends and implements solutions to the underlying cause.
  • Manages and controls expenses effectively. Assists with control over operating costs, labor, overtime, and repair expenses.
  • Supports the Company’s Quality and ISO Certification program. Coach and motivate production employees to contribute and be actively involved in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Trains, develops, and coaches all employees of the department. Provides management leadership in hiring and disciplinary recommendations. Initiates corrective disciplinary action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy.


OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement and manage preventative maintenance programs.
  • Implement and manage standardized work practices.
  • Promote shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among all employees.
  • Take responsibility for the care and use of all company-owned equipment which is part of the day-to-day work function.
  • Participate in company training programs as required. Keep current in industry and field by reading published information and attending authorized external conferences and/or seminars.
  • Manage shop supply vendor relationships and ordering of consumables, tools, welding supplies, and other items required by production personnel. Develop and manage budget for all shop consumables and supplies.
  • Perform any special assignments or projects as requested by management.
